“Watch it,” A woman spoke, as Harry took a step back.
“Move out of the way,” A man shouted as Harry stumbled backwards. He was standing at Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, there was no mistaking that. The rustic old building was standing exactly where it should be, between numbers eleven and thirteen. But something was drastically off. The old quiet street was now bustling with people and a large crowd gathering. The strip in front of is godfathers house was now the threshold for bi-standards and average non magic people going about their day, and never had Harry seen a crowd gathering this large. Harry set is things on the step of Number Twelve as the crowd grew larger, forcing him to step further back.
With all of the chaos Harry half wondered if his auror would be able to find him. If he had already arrived there was no doubt that he would have missed him within all the fuss. If he was here, there was also no doubt that he was somewhere merged in the crowd and maybe even looking for him. Harry looked at this watch, he was on time. Feeling a mixture of frustration and curiosity Harry made his way to the street and forced his way into the crowd. Almost at once he knew that this was a mistake. The crowd was so tight Harry could barely see inches from his nose. Once he made his way to the middle, there were two rather large men standing right in front of him, they both were very tall and stout. Harry tapped the shorter one of the two on the shoulder.
“Excuse me—” said Harry, trying to catch a glimpse at what they were staring at.
“BUG OFF,” The man shouted, pushing Harry aside. Harry resisted the urge to pull out his wand and perform a jinxing curse. The idea of using magic in public was out of the question. Harry tapped the tallest man on the back, this time it was a success as the man turned around, giving Harry the opportunity to squeeze himself forward through the thin space that opened up. Harry now had a clear view of what was causing the commotion. Standing in the middle of the crowd stood a girl about Harry’s height with sand colored skin and long curly hair. She wore gold hoop earrings and a row of gold bracelets on each wrist. Beside her was a large spotted dog. Harry watched with amazement as the girl began to dance in elaborate sequence with a large golden hoop that she held in her hands. As she kicked and twirled with gymnastic talents, Harry was instantly reminded of a circus act. In response, the crowd began to cheer and poured money into a bag that lay in front of her.
“Thank you!” The girl spoke. “For my next act I will need someone from audience,”
“Billy go on, you go up there,” In front of Harry stood a thin woman with sand colored hair, she was standing next to two children a boy and small girl. The boy, though he looked a few years shy of Harry’s age, was taller then him and bore a look of great distress as his mother egged him on. “Yea Billy, go up there,” the little girl spoke with giggles as the mother ushered her son in front of the crowd. Everyone began to clap with excitement. The trembling young boy walked toward the girl. For the first time Harry noticed that she had a pretty face that broke into a kind smile as she set her eyes upon the young boy.
“Well what is your name?” The girl asked.
“My name is Billy Muskin,” the boy said in a stutter.
“There’s nothing to be afraid of Billy,” the girl said in a re-assuring voice. “It’s just a simple feat that I’m sure my dog here Missy will be well inept to achieve,” She patted the boy on his shoulder. “On the count of three, I want you to take this gold hoop and hold it high above your head,” The trembling boy nodded in understanding.
“One,” The girl said raising a finger to the crowd to indicate that she was counting off.
“Two,” The girl said with gathering anticipation, and most of the crowd joining in.
“THREE,” The girl said in a loud voice, on the count, the boy flung the big golden hoop above his dead as high as he could with trembling arms. The spotted dog named Missy that at one point was seated beside the girl and looked quite bored had flung itself into the air in a summersault and flew through the hoop and landed gracefully to the ground. The whole crowd gave a loud uproar of applause. Harry couldn't think of a time were he had ever seen a dog do anything so spectacular and he to began to clap as well. The girl and her dog had both took a bow to the applauding crowd.
“For our next trick-” The girl began but a loud whistle from the back of the crowd cut her off. Harry turned around in the direction of the noise, behind him stood two police officers approaching the crowd one tall and skinny towered over him the other short and plump tried with difficulty to merge though the crowd.
“Break it up, Break it up,” said the short cop as he began to push his way through the crowd.
“Clear out!” The tall cop called out to everyone. Billy dropped the gold hoop to the ground as he ran to join his mother and sister, who were disbanding with the rest of the crowd.
The girl made a grab for the bag that was now over flowing with money and zipped it quickly.
“You hold it right there,” the short cop said blowing his whistle once more, and pulling the bag from her arms.
“What do you think you’re doing? Blocking traffic in the middle of the street?” The cop said rounding on the girl.
“I wasn’t doing anything,” the girl said standing her ground. For the first time Harry noticed that the girl didn’t have a English accent, but that of an American.
“Where are you from?” The tall police man asked. “Let me see your identification card?” The cop continued.
“I don’t have one.” The girl said, trying to make a grab for the bag. The cop pulled it away.
“Really…?” the cop looked from the girl to the bag. “Then what’s in here.” The cop grabbed the zipper of the bag and was beginning to pull back.
“DON’T OPEN IT!” the girl exclaimed so loudly that the cop dropped the bag, in which the girl snatched it up.
“What do you have in there?” The tall cop asked.
“Something illegal?” the short cop continued, “or have you stolen something?” The girl looked as though she had just been crossed.
“Look I haven’t stole anything,” She was looking around her “I’m a tourist…I mean I’m visiting my family they live around here.” said the girl. “I was giving my dog a walk and a couple of kids had asked me to do a trick… and then the next thing , there was a crowd of people.” The girl said, looking at her dog.
“Then what’ve you got in the bag?” The short cop asked.
“Dog biscuits,” The girl said plainly.
“I don’t believe you,” said the tall cop.
Harry didn’t know why but he had a strong desire to step in, to help.
“Wait,” said Harry running up to them. “She’s telling the truth,” said Harry.
“And who are you?” The short cop said turning on the spot, Harry was instantly reminded of his red faced Uncle Vernon as he spoke.
“I’m Har…I mean I’m Neville Longbottom,” said Harry. Harry had used Neville’s name once before, it had been the first name he could think of.
“I’m her neighbor, I was standing right over there and I saw the whole thing.” said Harry, he caught site of the girl staring at him with an odd look and just hoped that he sounded convincing. The cops were silent as they were surveying the two of them.
“Look if you’re not going to arrest me, then I suggest you find some other innocent girl to pick on.” The girl said Harry swallowed hard; her statement was way too bold to make with two very agitated cops. But he knew that she had them, they really didn’t have any proof of any wrong doing and they were simply traffic police had no jurisdiction to arrest anyone.
“Humf…we’ll let you off with a warning,” the tall cop said bitterly. “We had better not see anymore disruptions with traffic over here again,” the tall cop continued.
“—Or next time we will take in the both of you.” The short cop finished. “So there had better not be a next time,” his last words were directed more to Harry then the girl standing beside him. With that, both cops turned and walked up the street corner to direct traffic on the next street.
“Thanks,” said the girl, grabbing the golden hoop from the ground and swinging the bag around her shoulder.
“Who are you?” Harry asked, his mind swimming with thoughts of what just happened.
“My name is Marla Angustri and this is my dog Missy.” Marla said gesturing towards her canine that wagged her tail happily. “…And you’re Harry Potter?” The girl asked. Harry was taken aback.
“How do you know who I am?” asked Harry, brushing his hands over his scar. “Well I figured that you’re not a Longbottom seeing as though you look nothing like Frank or Alice… and besides I’m pretty sure that I was sent here to meet a Potter,” said Marla who was now gazing at Harry as if she were searching for something. “You’re exactly the way that they told me you would be,” Marla began. “Only, you really do have your mum’s eyes.”
“So you’re a witch then?” asked Harry.
“I’m an Auror, I suppose I’m the best in Britain for now .” Marla shrugged.
“You’re an Auror?” said Harry with shock. “So you’re the auror that I’m supposed to be meeting here?” said Harry his disbelief growing. Marla nodded.
“Then why were you doing magic in the street?” asked Harry with confusion.
“I arrived early to meet you, but got a little bored waiting,” said Marla, “and I wasn’t doing magic.” said Marla, “It was a trick, you know like a dog trick?”
“Right…” said Harry
“Oh sorry,” said Marla suddenly as if distracted by something. She began to survey the group of houses in front of them. “So tell me…where is Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place?”
“You don’t see it?” asked Harry, looking straight ahead at his home. “It’s right in front of you.”
Marla looked straight ahead. “I suppose that I can’t see it because I’m not a secret keeper,” She said as she took a few steps forward. “You have to tell me where it is.” said Marla. Harry thought for a moment, she had known about Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place; it shouldn’t be a secret to her anymore.
“Alright then…Er,” Harry said thinking for a moment. “Number twelve Grimmauld Place is to the left, about five steps in front of you.”
Marla took five steps in front of her, and moved to the left, right when she got to the first step, there was a flash of silver light as she placed her foot solidly onto the step. She turned around to where Harry stood.
“What are you waiting for, let’s go in shall we.”
